Individuals and companies are being encouraged by the Inland Revenue Department to file their tax returns online.

You will need to register with the IRD to file your return electronically.  The IRD has produced a guide to registration and you can register at https://etax.ird.gov.bb/eTaxIrd/Login.aspx.

Tips for registering

  • Look for your Notice of Assessment for 2007 (the pink form sent by IRD) first – it is required to register.  If you don’t have it, you will have to take some form of ID to the Inland Revenue Department to get your username and password.
  • Start by clicking "Register Yourself" and then follow the guide through.
  • Note that when entering your National Registration Number (NRN), do not put in a space or the dash – it must be one continuous number made up of the 10 digits.
  • The Inland Revenue Department will provide assistance by telephone on 228–2937 between 8:15 am to 8:00 pm and you can get general information on e-filing here.

Note that Third Parties, such as mutual fund companies and credit unions, are expected to provide information directly to the IRD on your mutual fund purchases, credit union savings etc. in 2008.

MANUAL FILING

You can still file manually using the usual process.  However, you do not have to attach supporting documents as in the past.

However, supporting documentation must be kept for five (5) years. Note that your Return is expected to be processed faster if you file electronically.
